THE ARTIST
Alternatives begun as a hobby – a way of keeping my creativity alive when I gave up work as a graphic designer to be a full-time homemaker in 2002. Unbelievably, here I am almost five years down the line, with a bone-fide business growing from strength to strength, all thanks to the support of my wonderful circle of family and friends.
I am a fully qualified artist with a degree in Graphic Design, from KNUST, Ghana and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Printing and Publishing from the London College of Printing. Added to these qualifications are my passion for and inherent pride in all things African - African art, African history, African food, African dance, African music, African dress and all the vivacity that comes with the aforementioned phenomena. My sources of inspiration for my designs are Ghana’s Adinkra symbols and Kente patterns – two mainstays of Ghana’s arts and crafts heritage.
I hope my work offers some ALTERNATIVES to anyone with a taste for art spiced with a touch of culture and . . . of course Class.
